Larchlap uses DELTA 2000 Optimisator to improve its raw material yield

Larchlap, a Scotland-based company, is the largest producer of garden and fencing products in the UK. Its Lockerbie mill has a sawmill producing approximately 80.000 m3 per annum. Most of this is fencing material.

Larchlap has purchased Optimisator 2000 in order to have a better fit between the available logs and the products requirements of the secondary processing plant. The clear goal is to directly improve raw material recovery, by facilitating a very tedious work, a very time-consuming task for the production manager. Gordon Russel, site manager, wishes also to ease the decision-making process regarding the adoption of new products, by very rapidly looking-up possible cutting patterns for a new size, especially
with regards to the available log stock. This allows for evaluating a production operational margin beforehand, rather that discovering it afterwards!
