OSCAR cuts oak planks at Grouazel (Brittany, France)

The Grouazel sawmill cuts various hardwood species in its current plant near Fougères, in western France. One the 2 headrigs (from LBL) has an output of around 30m3 per day of planks, and has recently been equipped with an Oscar optimization package.

Logs range from 1.50m to 4.50m in length, and 200 to 800mm in diameter. They are scanned by Oscar 's 3 scan heads in hidden time, as the carriage travels towards the saw like it would do without Oscar.

The optimizer then position the carriage knees in real time for skewing and opening face, using a communication link with the existing LBL setworks. The Best Opening Face target is calculated based on production requirements, which can be taylored at any moment by the operator or the mill manager.

This has resulted immediately improved speed and improved yield. Considering the high value of these oak planks, Oscar is already a must in the sawmill, a tool no one can do without!
