2007 : adapting to the market

For Ciris Engineering,2007 has been a year of development in France and in the European Union. While South America was getting bogged down in the dollar crisis, national territory and Southern Europe were privileged.
Thanks to the activity displayed in 2006, Ciris Engineering intensified its action on closer countries
Our backorders filled up quite well the beginning of the year, in particular the "turnkey" activity has allowed us to conduct several important custom-designed projects.

First project: OSCAR acceleration of the rythm … 

Oscar is easily fitted or retrofitted onto log carriages and guarantees a better performance of the headrig. Raw material recovery is increased drastically and production management is highly improved while giving more confort to operators.
2007 has seen a real and fast development of the national sales . In France, Spain and United Kingdom ... several installations like  Grouazel in Saint Sauveur des Landes (35) could benefit from a raw material increase as part of the modernisation of their “process” transformation.
OSCAR evolves at the option of customers who use it: control and supervision of raw material purchase, personnel training and promotion, detailed production management…

Second project: on-line Optimisation

Development of OSCANT range products . Using the same technology of true shape scanners, OSCANT measures the cants and optimises their recovery in square edged material.
A serious increase in the raw material and piece count as the installation reaches now 15 cants per minute.

Third project: the development of new technologies and better performing solutions for sorting and stacking

After starting up and launched Finsa project in Santiago de Compostelle, Ciris Engineering has continued the development of sorting dry boards as well as " custom-designed" green boards sorting.

Fourth project: new installations which bring innovations to SMEs: control AND verification in time

Palet boards sawmills are usually well equipped with Storti or Costa sawlines, or possibly with twin bandsaws. However, they often lack a simple, fast and cost-efficient stacker. Ciris Engineering has designed and installed a simple stacker for Picos de Urbion in Spain, which is able to stack 40 to 50 m3 of boards per day. Such a new stacker is ideally suited for many small and medium sawmills.

Fifth project: the studies

Ciris Engineering has been selected to conduct several studies especially those dedicated to the company Pomera (Argentina) on the creation of a taeda pine new sawmill.
In 2007, confirmation of new opportunities in oak and  sawmills in general: Rupt de Mad, Margaritelli … but also in softwood timbers like Brossard, Bourdaud…

Sixth project: Ciris Engineering has been present in Ligna Hannover

Ciris Engineering presented its last innovations at Ligna, first world fair in the field of technologies dedicated to the transformation of wood. Confirmation of products apparition on the front of the scene:
Optichain, Optiflex, Solologs, Realog, Oscant and Oscar with the complete range of Delta softwares and in particular the last born version of Delta Programmator.
The fair was very professional, opening good prospects for the range of  solutions  offered by Ciris Engineering.
 

Seventh project: participation to international events

In 2007, Ciris Engineering consolidated its network of existing partners and then, brought a useful support and presence to them.
Many foreign visitors came to Bordeaux to meet our engineers and to visit our references.
Ciris Engineering is pleased to inform that we have been joined by Marc Sigrist, ENSTIB Engineer who spent several years in the Company Lapeyre in Brazil where he first  had erected factory projects before managing them. Marc Sigrist will be a real plus for our customers to whom he will bring all  his background.
Ciris Engineering shows its will to develop its secondary processing activities for which we hold a specific background.

Eighth project: simulation softwares

Ciris Engineering continues the sales development of Delta Programmator which allows sawmills to better use resources and to lower production cost thanks to optimisation. The computerised manufacturing launching methodology is working.
It even becomes an absolute necessity for some sawmills which must find new competitiveness.

Ninth project: participation to the training of the young generations

Jean-Pierre Olgiati has been invited again to give a class on “Modern Sawmilling Process Optimisation Technologies” for the students of the Ecole Supérieure du Bois. The reflexion was continued with the Lycée of Dax to emphasise Production Management through softwares and thanks to Oscar.  The students as well as the professionals coming for training will now find a modern computerised installation for getting acquainted to the newest methods being applied in industry. One may remind that Ciris Engineering has been involved  in  the technological platform of the college of which it became a partner through its co-operation on Oscar and Delta softwares.

Tenth Project: participation to the development of the sister companies

Ciris Engineering has actively participated in developing its sister companies Edit and Miris. The relationship with their managers has been positive and rewarding.
Edit has continued its growth in the field of laser based sensors and Miris its work in the maintenance and erection and has also started successfully electromechanical subcontracting.
