OSCAR cuts to-order construction timber at JAMES JONES LTD |
|
JAMES JONES now operates a modernised sawmill at its Kirremuir plant, just North of Edinburg, Scotland. The company has just completed an (almost) full overhaul of this fairly old mill. The main headrig (bandsaw and log carriage) has been replaced, and fitted with a true-shape OSCAR optimisation system. Kirremuir has an annual output of around 23.000 m³ of softwood timber, mostly cut to order, plus some standard products. Nice quality spruce and fin often reach 600 to 700 mm in diameter, and a large part of the final products is between 6 and 8 m. OSCAR controls log positioning and also proposes a cutting pattern based on the current order list which can be overridden at any time by the sawyer or by mill manager. Improve productivity and yield for James Jones, but OSCAR also helped operators in mastering the brands new machines that came as a complete change over the old setup. |
